Space Summit 2023

Space Hub Yorkshire welcomed Flanders Investment and Trade to Leeds to promote cross-regional synergy and international collaboration opportunities.

On the 9th October 2023, Space Hub Yorkshire held a joint event with Flanders Investment and Trade at The Faversham, Leeds. The first Space Summit of its kind, this event aimed to promote both the Yorkshire and Flanders region, while highlighting the similarities and where companies could utilise one another’s strengths. Flanders is a region with a similar sized population to Yorkshire, and one which holds similar advances in terms of technology. During the event, keynote presentations were held by Dirk Verlee, Trade and Investment Commissioner for Flanders Investment and Trade, Mandy Ridyard, Chair of Space Hub Yorkshire, as well as company presentations from Compass Informatics, Sylatech and Cyclopic. The University of Sheffield Student Rocketry Team, Project Sunride, also presented, to showcase the opportunities for students in the region and how companies can support their development (and potential career pathways!).

The event was the first of many collaborations with Flanders Investment and Trade, an initiative that seeks to drive international collaboration while supporting the development of the Space sector in each region.
