Nature Tech Expo 2024

Nature Tech Expo 2024 is the first-of-its-kind market-defining event, showcasing how digital technology can power nature recovery and nature-based solutions. Nature Tech is the engine that will power nature recovery and nature-based solutions to help achieve net-zero and climate resilience for the future. On 25th June 2024, this UK-focused event explored the use of a broad set of technologies in Leeds, from data processing and mapping, to AI, machine learning, e-acoustics, eDNA, gaming, visualisation, and virtual reality. UK-EONS representative from Tracsis Geo Intelligence presented some insightful introduction about how EO can help in nature recovery with some real case studies.

Storm-Cloud: Observations of the Sky – the Dialogue Event

Ruskin’s controversial lecture highlighted the disastrous results of nineteenth-century industrialisation, the human role in climate change, and the effects of air pollution, ‘a plague-wind’, on our health. This unique version of Ruskin’s lecture introduces Storm-Cloud, an interdisciplinary arts-led programme of climate-focused research, performance, and exhibition. On 20th Jun 2024 in Sheffield, UK-EONS representatives presented the observations from the sky (EO) in the dialogue event and initiated collaborations with the art community to bring them into the Space sector.

Research and Innovation Showcase: Earth Observation for Sustainability

As part of the UK Earth Observation Network for Sustainability (UK-EONS), we are at the forefront of exploring the impact of space data and technology on our planet.  On 18th Jun 2024 at Newcastle University, we discovered how research is using Earth Observation and space technologies to tackle pressing societal issues, from climate change and natural disasters to infrastructure resilience, biodiversity loss, sustainability, and public health. We also discussed how innovations in sensors, data science and AI are leading to a step change in capabilities and applications for improved sustainability.
