International SHY
Space Hub Yorkshire (SHY) plays a central role in coordinating and growing the region’s space sector, acting as a catalyst for innovation, investment, and collaboration across industry, academia and government. As a UK Space Agency funded regional cluster, SHY connects organisations across satellite data, advanced manufacturing, secure communications and geospatial technologies to drive economic growth and unlock new opportunities for Yorkshire businesses.
Working internationally is essential to this mission. SHY engages with global partners and agencies such as the European Space Agency to attract inward investment and promote Yorkshire as a destination for advanced space technology development. Its “Agency” function specifically supports international engagement and inward investment activity, helping shape a compelling strategy that positions the region within worldwide space markets.
Events and trade delegations further strengthen these global links. Initiatives such as the Space Tech Assembly highlight Yorkshire’s growing capabilities while creating opportunities to connect with international stakeholders, including investors, industry leaders and technology specialists. Sessions focused on foreign direct investment, such as “Investment into Yorkshire – Attracting Foreign Direct Investment and Shaping the Region’s Future”, provide a platform to showcase the region’s strengths and build long-term partnerships.
Through these activities, SHY ensures Yorkshire is firmly embedded in global space supply chains, attracting new opportunities and delivering long-term prosperity for the region. The graphics below show the countries that we have developed relationships with so far.
