Who We Are

Space Hub Yorkshire (SHY) was created in 2020 after it successfully responded to a funding call from the UK Space Agency (UKSA) for the development of a local Space clusters across the UK. Since then, SHY has gone to receive further funding from UKSA, Leeds City Council, and the Satellite Applications Catapult (SAC) to not only run a successful cluster development programme, but to lead on several pan-regional and national programmes.

SHY is now one of the brightest and most impactful local Space clusters in the UK, with a strong and recognisable brand identity, utilising the wealth of experience of its partners. In 2025, we were made an official delivery partner of UKSA, further cementing our identity as an vital resource in the UK Space ecosystem.

SHY is a unique partnership of:

4 Regional Government Partners – with a combined population of 5.5m. Including:

12 Higher Education Institutes – coordinated by Yorkshire Universities and representing 10% of the student population in the UK

15 Local Councils

Government Agencies

A vast Commercial and Industrial Network
