Kelvin Shek

Cluster Development Manager (Agency)

Mr Kelvin Shek is the Cluster Development Manager of Space Hub Yorkshire. He is also the Founder of Yondar Ltd, and the regional coordinator of F1 in School Hong Kong.

Kelvin’s current role includes:

  • Facilitate collaboration between local governance organizations, universities, and businesses, fostering their involvement in the space cluster and promoting their capabilities to the SHY network.
  • Run the innovation ecosystem stakeholder model while planning and executing events to achieve SHY Agency objectives.
  • Develop and promote an inward investment strategy for the Yorkshire region, attracting space-related businesses and supporting local companies to scale up.
  • Act as a champion for the space industry in the region, representing SHY internally and externally, as well as convening meetings with different parties

Prior to his current role, Kelvin obtained an MPhil in Biology (Molecular Medicine Division) at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and was a STEM educator for more than 10 years, including as the Subject Head of the Biology Department of United Christian College (Kowloon East).

Kelvin also acquired various international project-leading experiences, such as being the IGEM coordinator in the Hong Kong region that focused on the Genetic Engineering campaign in Boston, USA.

Mr Shek has broad experience managing project funds for innovation and engineering education, mainly in Rocket design, AI, automation for transportation, Aerodynamic designs for 3D-printed cars and VR/AR simulations for space education. For the past 5 years, he has secured project funding of up to 880 thousand pounds.
