A new funding opportunity from the UK Space Agency could provide a significant boost to organisations developing innovative Earth Observation (EO) technologies.
The Earth Observation Missions and Technology (EOMT) Innovation Call 1 will provide up to £1.4 million in grant funding for UK-based research and development projects. Individual projects can apply for up to £200,000 for activities lasting up to 12 months.
The call is particularly focused on innovative, early-stage technologies, with applications encouraged across areas including climate monitoring, environmental applications, dual-use technologies and commercial opportunities. This makes it a potentially exciting opportunity for a wide range of organisations across the Space Hub Yorkshire cluster – from innovative SMEs and technology developers to universities, research organisations and businesses working in sectors that can benefit from Earth Observation data and technologies.
Projects should align with the objectives of the UK National Space Strategy, and applicants are encouraged to consider how their ideas could contribute to the development of future Earth Observation missions and capabilities.
The application deadline is 11:59pm on 1 September 2026, so organisations interested in applying should begin developing their ideas and partnerships as soon as possible.
