Space Hub Yorkshire is pleased to highlight a new funding opportunity for organisations developing innovative technologies for the UK’s future defence and security space capabilities.

UK Defence Innovation (UKDI), working in partnership with the UK Space Agency and the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl), has launched the latest competition in its Space to Innovate programme: Delta Drop. The competition offers up to £985,000 in funding for projects lasting up to 18 months and targeting technologies at TRL 3-6.
The competition is seeking novel solutions across three challenge areas:
- Faster sensor-to-response capabilities – technologies that improve how information is gathered, processed and acted upon across space domain awareness, communications and intelligence systems.
- Self-protecting space platforms – solutions that enable satellites and spacecraft to better detect, avoid and respond to threats in orbit.
- Protection against electromagnetic threats – innovations that improve the resilience of space systems and supporting infrastructure against electronic warfare and other electromagnetic interference.
Applications are being assessed through a two-stage process, with the first submission deadline set for 28 July 2026.
