On the 4th of June 2026 the European Space Agency (ESA) is opening its Arctic Region: Environmental and Economic Resilience funding call. The call supports Earth Observation (EO) services that help monitor, protect and strengthen Arctic ecosystems, and support climate-resilient economic activity across the Arctic and sub-Arctic regions.
ESA highlights EO use cases including oil spill detection, pollutants such as methane and carbon dioxide, and algal bloom mapping. Proposals need to be user-led, with a clear market need and an identified operational user.
Support is available through ESA Business Applications ACCESS/BASS. UK applicants can receive up to 50% of eligible project costs. Proof of Concept Studies are capped at €300,000 of ESA funding, with total project costs limited to €600,000 and a maximum duration of nine months. Pilot Projects can also be submitted and are assessed on a case-by-case basis.
