Leeds Beckett University offers various degrees in engineering, technology, and related fields that can provide a solid foundation for a career in the space industry. Through their School of Built Environment, Engineering, and Computing, a wealth of research exists, including projects in areas such as aerospace engineering, astrophysics, satellite technology, AI, cyber security, IoT, data science, and sustainability – all of which can be applied to space exploration. Leeds Beckett University is home to the Centre for Research in Computer Science and Applications, which focuses on research in the field of computer science, including software engineering, artificial intelligence, and data science. Additionally, there is the Cybercrime and Security Innovation Centre, which holds applications relevant to the space sector.
Dr Katherine Harrison is an expert in Space Media having won a Fulbright Scholar Award (2021-22), Which was funding from the US Department of State to conduct research in Washington, DC, for three months ($15,000 plus visa sponsorship). As well as researching at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, she was also able to access archives at NASA Headquarters and the Library of Congress.
