DESCRIPTION:UK-EONS is presently part of the National Cyber Security Centre’s (NCSC) Industry 100 (I100) programme. The NCSC is the UK Governments public cyber security agency\, their role is to make the UK the safest place to work and play online. The I100 programme facilitates conversations between Cyber Security professionals in sectors such as Critical National Infrastructure\, but it also seeks expertise and perspectives from a variety of related sectors and industries. UK-EONS is supporting the NCSC with their Net-Zero and Sustainability responsibilities\, as well as\, helping to devise a guide on the climate on risks facing the cyber security sector. \nThis event was an in-person event that brought together other members of the I100 programme and focussed on the use of AI in Cyber Security.

DESCRIPTION:Geospatial in Natural Capital: Opportunities\, Challenges and Standardisation is a one-day AGI event taking place on Wednesday 1 July 2026 at Geovation in London. The event brings together a diverse mix of stakeholders operating across the natural capital value chain to explore how geospatial data\, methods and standards can support more consistent spatial reporting\, monitoring and evaluation. With natural capital receiving increasing attention across policy\, finance\, land management and environmental decision-making\, the event focuses on the role of location data in strengthening how natural capital is measured\, assessed and reported. \nThe event will examine the opportunities and challenges associated with using geospatial approaches in natural capital\, particularly where different methods are currently being used across the sector. Participants will hear from a broad range of organisations and perspectives\, including TNFD\, NatWest\, Howden Insurance\, Ordnance Survey and others\, with discussion focused on the need for greater consistency and standardisation in natural capital measurement\, monitoring and evaluation. \nThe programme will also include a series of roundtable discussions aimed at helping to shape improved geospatial standards. These synchronized space events attract greater public and media attention. World Space Week 2023 achieved record scale: \n\nMore than 16\,000 events\nEvents in 83 nations\n\nWorld Space Week is coordinated by the United Nations with the support of the World Space Week Association (WSWA). SUMMARY:AGI Earth Observation Network Launch
DESCRIPTION:The Association for Geographic Information\, the membership group for organisations and individuals working in geospatial\, has announced a new special interest network designed to broker a better connection between the Earth Observation and Geospatial sectors. Previewed at GEO Business in London\, the AGI’s EO Network will bring together members and industry in a bid to raise awareness and education\, and foster new relationships between those involved in the capture\, processing\, and use of Earth Observation data. It is expected that the new Network will be one of many initiatives from the AGI to strengthen the geospatial community and its relationships. \nThe AGI Earth Observation Network will be officially launched at an event on the 2nd October 2024 in London. Hosted by Geovation\, an Ordnance Survey Initiative\, which has together\, with HM Land Registry\, already kickstarted the business of over 150 geospatial and property startups raising a total of £130m in funding to date\, and creating 2\,500 jobs for the UK economy. Invitations will be extended in September so interested parties should register their interest by emailing info@agi.org.uk. \nUK-EONS will be presenting at the event and we are excited to be connected with the geospatial community! DESCRIPTION:“This wind is the plague-wind of the eighth decade of years in the nineteenth century; a period which will assuredly be recognized in future meterological history as one of phenomena hitherto unrecorded in the courses of nature” \nThis contemporary staging of John Ruskin’s prophetic public lecture ‘Storm-Cloud of the Nineteenth Century’ (1884) is performed and directed by Dr Tom Payne\, with motion design by Jake Goodall\, photography by Becky Payne\, original composition by David John Brady\, illustration by Billy Hughes and Penny McCarthy\, dramaturgical focus by Terry O’Connor\, digital media production by Anne Doncaster and Richard Mather\, and archival research by Ashley Gallant. \nRuskin’s controversial lecture highlighted the disastrous results of nineteenth-century industrialisation\, the human role in climate change\, and the effects of air pollution\, ‘a plague-wind’\, on our health. This unique version of Ruskin’s lecture introduces Storm-Cloud\, an interdisciplinary arts-led programme of climate-focused research\, performance\, and exhibition. DESCRIPTION:Space Hub Yorkshire hosted the launch of the UK Earth Observation Network for Sustainability (UK-EONS) at the University of Leeds on 18th Jan 2024.
